What is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning?

Anchor Counseling is pleased to announce that we are now offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy will be offered to our clients ages 12 and over, who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, mood issues and trauma history. Equine Assisted Learning will be offered for those 10 and over, who may not have mental health issues, but struggle with anger, stress, difficulty expressing emotions, or feeling stuck. Equine therapies are primarily based on the ground with the horse, rather than riding. Both programs will be offered at Stable Minds 43w043 Campton Hills Road in Elburn, IL. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy may be covered by your insurance.

Shiloh

Shiloh's
Story

Shiloh is a 16 year old, Palomino, Quarter Horse gelding. He was purchased by Anchor Counseling's owner, Angel, in 2022. Angel recently resumed riding again after 20 years off. Shiloh is said to have lived as a ranch horse in Oklahoma before being sold at an auction. He loves treats, having his ears scratching, and playing follow the leader. He can sometimes be a little nervous but enjoys spending time with his people and horse friends.

Nacho's
Story

Meet Nacho, our pint-sized hero rescued from a kill pen last fall. Once part of a petting zoo, his past is a mystery. At just two years old, he's the youngest in our herd, weighing over 200 lbs. Despite his petite stature, Nacho's spirited personality and adorable antics make him the heartwarming baby of our Anchor Counseling. Join us in celebrating his second chance at a joyful life!
